Vail Activities
I thought I was fine with not being able to ski while we were in Vail (the 6 months pregnant bump put a stop to that) but then I was confronted with the mountain this morning and the jealousy literally coursed through my veins. If there was a way I could ski safely I would have been up that mountain 10 minutes later. Alas, it’s not happening. So this morning I flipped through a guide book...

Happy (belated) Birthday Winston
Winston turned one year old yesterday. I can’t believe it - time is going too fast!! He will always be my little puppy regardless of how old he is. I’m forever grateful that this little guy came into our lives. Not only is he adorable but has such a great personality. He is always making us laugh with his antics.
Winston was pretty excited about his birthday, even announcing it...

Vail Home Exchange
We are spending the week in a condo in Vail while the family who owns the condo spend a week in our apartment enjoying New York. Home exchange win-win! We use the website HomeExchange.com™ to arrange it all. This is our second successful exchange after exchanging with a lovely couple in Marin County in May this year.
We arrived in Vail late last night. I had really low expectations of the...

Christmas Gift
John is notoriously hard to buy presents for because when he wants something he goes out and buys it for himself. However, this year I came up with a great idea.
I created a photo book on Shutterfly dedicating two pages to every vacation we’ve ever taken together. As you can imagine it’s a looooong book! We’ve managed to jam a lot into our 3 years together. I must admit I...

Found a Friend
Remember the challenge I set myself of finding my Mum’s friend? Well, I found her! Sadly, she passed away a few years ago but we are now in contact with her daughter who said in her email:
I am so happy to hear from you, it is a little x-mas miracle.
Yay for the internet bringing together people who haven’t seen or heard from each other in over 20 years :-)
Internet Stalking
Mum told me about how she had tried to track down an Irish woman she had been friends with 20+ years ago when they both lived in and around Munich. She had no luck finding her.
I like a challenge.
So I asked for the full names of the woman, her husband and three children. I’m almost positive I will have her tracked down by close of business today.
Internet stalking. It’s a gift.
You do realize you can’t type and knit at the same time.
– My Mum. I guess that means she has noticed my addiction to the compu-pu.

A Day in Dublin
This morning we headed into Dublin on the train. Mum suggested I bring some reading material but I knew I would be happy to gaze out the window. The view is a little better than the view on the NY subway. Check out that sunshine. The weather forecast tells me to expect sunshine for my entire trip! Who says it rains in Ireland all the time?
We arrived into Dublin and headed straight for...

Winston in the Snow
New York got a bunch of snow yesterday and it’s pretty much killing me not to be there playing in it. I also hate that I didn’t get to see Winston experience snow for the first time but John took photos for me (isn’t he good to me). It would appear that Winston loves snow almost as much as his Mommy!
John took him out into the back garden of our building (sssh, it’s...
What's her name?
I chatted to John just now on the phone and he tells me that Berry and Aisha did their best to drag Baby Girl’s name out of him last night. Nothing beats my Aunt Una who threatened to not let me leave today until I told her the name! She tried everything - is it an American name, is it an Irish name, is it an English name, will I have heard of the name, give me the first letter, ok just...
Yes, I’m picking up the ‘fry supplies’ on my way home.
– Fry up confirmed with my Mum. She’s busy telling me that it’s really cold and bring lots of warm clothes and I’m busy telling her that I’m always hungry and need to be fed often.
Conversation
Me: Can I complain for a minute? Will you listen?
John: Yes.
Me: [List my litany of complaints]
Me: God didn't do a very good job when he designed us for pregnancy.
John: Would you prefer to lay an egg?
Me: No, I wish I had a pouch. Like a kangaroo.
John: Then you wouldn't need to carry a handbag either.
Want
Ooh, want.
This has my name written ALL over it. It’s what John would refer to as a Georgina-sweater.
However my credit card says: DENIED. Boo hiss.

Today > Yesterday
And just like that, the discomfort I blogged about last night is GONE! I was feeling a bit Signourney-Weaver-with-an-alien-about-to-burst-out-of-my-tummy-at-any-moment and now I feel normal again. Phew.
I was also lucky enough to be sent a gorgeous maternity dress from a high end maternity line that arrived last night and I immediately put it on today. I teamed it with a pair of 4 inch boots...
I feel uncomfortable
I have loved every second of being pregnant. The days last week when I couldn’t walk were scary and frustrating but I still loved being pregnant.
This week I feel different.
Tonight I blogged a post-it note saying that I felt fat. Fat is the wrong word to use. I actually feel uncomfortable. ’Uncomfortable’ is a far better description. I feel as though I have this great big...
A random post about nothing much at all
I’m not doing much blogging at the moment because I’m very busy at work. The good news is that Friday is my last day of work until Jan 4th. I have a jam packed Christmas / New Year schedule and I can’t wait for it to start.
First stop?
Ireland. To see my Mama!
