I have a motorcycle license, bitches
I tossed and turned all night with worry. Not only was I worried about my Vespa test but I also had a scary doctor appointment to deal with. I woke up at 5.30am and lay there chanting to myself ‘Today is going to be fantastic, today is going to be fantastic’.
We drove over to Red Hook in Brooklyn. John on my Vespa, me following in the rental car. We arrived and chatted to the...
Tomorrow
It’s a big day.
I have my Vespa riding test.
I estimate there is a 35% chance I will fail. No, wait. Maybe my chances of passing are even worse than that. I practiced the figure eights and circles today and let’s just say it did not go as well as I had hoped. Please send me virtual well wishes at about 8.30am tomorrow.
My pack
John is responding to home exchange queries. We are thinking of going to Vail for New Year’s. However, first we have to confirm they are OK with us having a dog. John ended the email with:
He has traveled with us on previous trips to San Francisco, Miami, Puerto Rico and Canada.
What can I say? We travel as a pack.
Although he’s not coming sailing with us :-(

Me: What did you say?
John: I was talking to the dog.
Me: What did you say to him?
John: Private stuff.
Me: Boy stuff?
John: Exactly.

And this:
There’s a reason...

not-for-new-yorkers:
I’ve just realised that I call New York “home” while I’m in Sydney and that I really miss it.
It’s not that I’m not hardcore loving being in Australia - I am in heaven - but I’ve just come to the realisation that now I’ve made a home for myself in NY, I’ll never be completely settled anywhere.
Always missing someone, somewhere
I know how this feels. Today I wanted to be...

Add it to the list
Berry and I have been playing a new game recently. Whenever we come across so-bad-they-are-priceless grammatical and wording errors we have to email each other about it and ‘add it to the list’.
Today this gem was added to the list.
Always the acception to the rule.
Immigration
We just went through immigration and actually laughed the whole time as the customs officer tried to figure out where we were all from and our visa status.
One Canadian with a greencard.
One Australian (born in Germany) with a greencard.
One South African with an Australian passport and E3 visa.
One South African with a South African passport and L1 visa.
One token American whose...
