Chez Napoleon
After feeding Charlotte at 7pm last night she passed out into a milk coma and we took the opportunity to go to our favorite local French restaurant, Chez Napoleon. It is one of four restaurants that I have been looking forward to bringing Charlotte in for show-and-tell. Even though NYC has a bajillion restaurants, it’s still nice to have a few places where the waitresses recognize you when...

Polka Dot Chair
While I was having a look at the Moody Mamas for Target collection online last night, I spotted this polka dot chair for $129.99 on the Target homepage.
It reminds me so much of the polka dot chair I bought during my first month in New York. Although the price tag of the Target chair does not AT ALL remind me of the ridiculous price I paid for my polka dot chair - the Target chair is a...

A word about the state of my blog
So……I think it’s time I admitted something to myself. I’m a Mommy blogger. I’m having more touble coming to terms with the fact that I’m a Mommy blogger than I am about the fact that I’m a Mommy.
Up until now this blog was sneak peek into my life. I’m not giving much of a peek at the moment, sneaky or otherwise. Mainly because life with a...

Busy Day
Busy day today, kiddos.
No time for blogging.
Been doing lots of research on sleep / eating schedules.
Parent-led baby schedules versus on-demand feeding and baby-led schedules.
Interesting stuff.
Well, interesting if you are a Mum of a newborn trying to figure out the best thing for your baby.

Bath time
We have been using the Puj Infant Sink Tub. I don’t like it. It has magnets that keep it together in the sink and the bloody things keep coming apart and then the entire thing collapses - all the water leaves the tub and I have to support Charlotte’s head while we try and put it back together. In a word: annoying. We think it may be due to our sinks being square.
What do...

Jeans Shopping Expedition
I headed into Gap today on the Upper West Side to check out their jeans. I came away with two pairs to tide me over until I shift the last of the baby weight. Normally I spend a small fortune on designer jeans but I must admit I am really impressed with Gap’s denim range. Really great quality for reasonable prices. I will definitely be buying more in the future.
I bought these skinny...

Necklace
Shortly before having Charlotte, I decided I really wanted to buy a necklace with the letter C on it. Flipping through US Weekly just now as I fed Charlotte and noticed a whole section devoted to necklaces.
I really love this asymmetrical one from Maya Brenner Designs for $188.
This teeny tiny photo shows you what it looks like on. It’s very simple but I like the fact that it is short...
giin asked: may i be greedy bear and ask two questions? three?
1. did i miss your this-is what-labor-was-like post?
2. are you back to wearing heels?
3. does bfeeding really feel like clamping binder clips on your tatas? (this is how one of my friends described the pain when the baby doesn't latch correctly.)
4. please tell me not all...

cptnjac asked: You have probably answered this question 1 million times before, but how did you end up in NYC, let alone America from Australia? Though I've never been, I imagine Australia as a paradise where everyone's happy and kangaroos entertain you everyday...so what brought you here?
Questions
You may recall that the very last day that I was pregnant I was out of my mind with boredom and asked you guys to entertain me with questions. Well, apparently my wish was your command - loads of questions flowed in. I think I answered three or four that day and had every intention of answering a few each day after that.
That night during early labor, one of the many things that floated...

Thursday
It was a busy day. It was a fun day.
We started our day by taking a trip down to John’s offices in Gramercy. It was Charlotte show-and-tell time. I strapped her into her carseat, hailed a taxi and off we went.
I followed John around his office as he showed her to his colleagues telling them all that we ‘made a human’. Everyone said she looks like John. Am I the only...

Dog Park
I’m trying my best to incorporate one hour at the dog park into my daily routine in order for Winston not to feel completely neglected now that Charlotte has arrived on the scene. We are lucky enough to live close to a really great park.
It has an area for dogs less than 25lbs (the area just beyond the fence in the photo below) and a larger area for dogs of all sizes. When Charlotte is...

My Story
I have finished writing the story of how I gave birth to Charlotte. I’m still undecided about whether or not I want to share it on the internet.
How interested are you in reading about it?
If I do post it, it would be remiss of me not to forewarn you - I am very honest about the pain. In fact, the word ‘pain’ appears 24 times!

aden + anais - Classic Muslin Collection
I stumbled across these blankets on Friday when I was renting a hospital grade breast pump from the Upper Breast Side.
The ladies at the Upper Breast Side believe that breastfeeding should not be hidden away and therefore don’t sell nursing covers. Instead, they sell these gorgeous muslin swaddle blankets that have multiple uses including:

I was up late this morning. It was 7.30am.
– I said this in conversation with John last night at dinner. It was quickly followed by, oh my god did I really just say that 7.30am on a Sunday was late?!!!! Is 7.30 what I now consider a sleep-in?!

ERGObaby Carrier
You’ve seen my stroller and I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s not exactly compact. It’s the SUV of strollers. As I walked Charlotte around my neighborhood the other day I realized there were many stores that I wouldn’t be able to get into. I certainly can’t get into the Westerley Natural Market which is where I usually do my grocery...
