Weekend: Chopsticks
We have gotten to the point that Charlotte will only eat food served to her on a chopstick when we go out for sushi. So on Friday we had to spear edamame, pieces of turkey, and raspberries.
Cooking class
On Saturday Jen and I went to a cooking class. It was my birthday present from Jen. We learned to cook a bunch of Tuscan food. Weekend: Baking
On Sunday I baked.
And baked.
I had to do something with all of the apples we picked on Saturday.
First I made dough and chucked it in the fridge for an hour.
Next I made an apple crisp using this recipe. John said it was good (I’m not a fan of apple crisp so I made it just for him).
And then I brought the dough back out of the fridge and made the apple pie cookies created by Smitten...
Weekend: Apple picking / pumpkin patching
You know what I love about Americans? Their enthusiasm. As soon as the Fall arrives everyone goes crazy for all things pumpkin. I am no longer surprised by what Americans can flavor with pumpkin. I can’t help but be infected by the enthusiasm. Plus I have an American daughter so I’m enjoying adopting all of these American traditions as my own.
So that was a long winded first paragraph...

Chicago: Hazel
And finally, a blog post about the highlight of my weekend in Chicago: meeting baby Hazel (and catching up with Emily and Simon).
She is just cute as a button and so sweet-natured. And perhaps the best dressed baby I’ve ever encountered. You guys, I peeked in Hazel’s closet and I am envious of all her gorgeous dresses and shoes!

Chicago: The Skydeck
There were only two tourist items on my list for Chicago (when you have a toddler in tow you have to be realistic about how much you can jam into a weekend away) - The Bean in Millenium Park and the Skydeck.

Tomorrow I’m flying to Chicago - yippee! I get to see Emily and baby Hazel and some other favorite bloggers (I hope!) and play tourist with Jen and cheer her on in the marathon.
