Candlewood Lake
We went out on our friend’s boat today on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut. John had a go of driving the boat and had a small co-captain by his side.
Charlotte was fascinated by the ducks.
The ducks were fascinated by the food, eating it right out of our hands. And yes, their aim wasn’t great so my fingers were (gently) pecked.

Sunglasses
Lookie who got new sunglasses….
And she loves them. She didn’t want to take them off.
It is beyond hot here in New York (and most of the rest of the country) so we are off to the beach tomorrow. With more beach plans for Saturday. The sunglasses arrived just in time!

Blueberry muffins!
There are actually two different recipes for blueberry muffins - spelt flour v all-purpose flour, whole milk v soy milk, sugar v agave. I opted to make the bad-for-you version. They are delicious....

Heat-free curly hair
When I read the title of Maegan’s post about getting curly hair without using any heat, I was all: pffft….that’s never going to work.
Fast forward to Saturday and not one but two of my friends had tried the technique and raved about it.
So on my way home from drinks I stopped in at Duane Reade, bought some headbands and tried it out for myself.

A less than stellar Friday
Friday sucked.
We spent 11 hours in the Emergency Room. Charlotte was prodded and poked. I was told about procedures she needed in order to rule out horrible sounding diseases and illnesses.
By noon I was seriously worried and had shed more than a few tears. John arrived. With a Starbucks tea for me. And Seahorse (nameless), Vegas the lion and purple blankie for Charlotte. Lifesaver!

Long Weekend
We spent the Canada Day / Independence Day long weekend on the St Lawrence.
We spent loads of time on the water - boating, tubing, jet-skiing, watching Grace learn to water-ski, swimming, yelling at the dog to stop barking (a certain furry someone goes a bit mental when his master is in the water without him), and watching Charlotte play in her paddling pool.
