Tonight and tomorrow we are hanging out with our friends J&L. The first time I met them was on my first sailing trip down to the BVI and USVI in May 2007. I was going through our sailing photos from that trip when I remembered this story.
On our sailing route is an island called Anegada. We anchor and then get in a taxi (and I use the word taxi loosely) and head over to a beach and restaurant on the other side of the island. At the bar of this restaurant are loads of pieces of driftwood that people have burned messages into and then nailed to various beams of the bar. J immediately got to work burning a message into a piece of driftwood. I thought it was adorable and I may or may not have been a bit disappointed that my own boy was not interested in doing the same.
