Weekend: Apple picking / pumpkin patching

You know what I love about Americans? Their enthusiasm. As soon as the Fall arrives everyone goes crazy for all things pumpkin. I am no longer surprised by what Americans can flavor with pumpkin. I can’t help but be infected by the enthusiasm. Plus I have an American daughter so I’m enjoying adopting all of these American traditions as my own.

So that was a long winded first paragraph to introduce the fact that I wanted to bring Charlotte to a pumpkin patch.

But then Jen emailed me a link to an amazing recipe for apple pie cookies (again, Americans come up with the best stuff) and I couldn’t get them out of my head. So at the last minute I changed my mind on Saturday and instead of going to a pumpkin place we hit up an apple orchard.

SO. MUCH. FUN.

Do you have any idea how satisfying it is when you pull an apple from a tree? It was really hard not to run from tree to tree and pull every apple in sight.

Oh, oh, and guess what? THEY HAD APPLE CIDER DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! They weren’t as good as the ones I had at work but hey, they’re donuts, so you know they can’t be bad. Here is Charlotte stuffing her gob full with her first apple cider donut.
