Weekend: Baking

On Sunday I baked.

And baked.

I had to do something with all of the apples we picked on Saturday.

First I made dough and chucked it in the fridge for an hour.

Next I made an apple crisp using this recipe. John said it was good (I’m not a fan of apple crisp so I made it just for him).

And then I brought the dough back out of the fridge and made the apple pie cookies created by Smitten Kitchen. It was a lot of work to make these little guys from scratch. Towards the end I did question whether they would be worth the effort. But OH MY GOD I would make them again in a heartbeat. They are delicious. Please click through and have a look at the pictures of them on Smitten Kitchen’s website because although I attempted to take photos of mine, I must tell you that photographing food and making it look edible is really really hard.

Oh, and I had a helper in the kitchen.  And by helper I mean a small child hanging off my leg demanding to see what I was doing. I managed to distract her momentarily with my apron.
