Changing Priorities

I am the first of my girlfriends here in New York to get pregnant.  When I first found out I was pregnant I was adamant that my pregnancy wouldn’t change my relationship with my girlfriends - I would still go out partying on the weekend, I just wouldn’t drink.  I clearly had no idea what I was talking about.  Going to a bar quickly went from the top to the bottom of the List of Things I Want To Do on the Weekend.  I avoid going to bars like the plague these days.  (I can’t believe I just typed that last line - oh how life changes!).  My friends have been amazing and plan non-alcohol non-partying meetups all the time.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

At first I thought I might be envious of their late night activities but quite honestly my priorities have changed so much.  There’s nothing more enjoyable than listening to them tell me about their shenanigans.  They have me in stitches laughing.  Sometimes there is a twinge of ‘I wish I had been there’ but for the most part I’m more than happy to stay home while these shenanigans go on!
