Daily Work Outfit

Wow, how long has it been since an outfit post?  Now that I don’t fit into most of my clothes I tend to wear the same few things over and over again so I generally don’t have anything new to show you.

I found these photos on my camera from earlier in the week.

  • Banana Republic wrap dress - a pregnant woman’s best friend.
  • Jimmy Choo boots

And the side view!  Can I let you in on a secret?  I wore this dress on purpose.  I had training in my office and knew I was going to see a number of colleagues that I hadn’t seen in ages so I wanted an outfit that showed off my bump to its fullest!

I love being pregnant and I especially love showing off my bump.  I’ve never felt so comfortable in my own skin.

Date Night Outfit
Last night we headed out to a restaurant in our hood called Taboon that we have been meaning to try for ages.  The food was great and it was adorable inside.  I was surprised to find this gem was packed - we don’t normally go beyond Ninth Avenue and this place is located on Tenth.
I have no idea where this dress is from.  Yes, that’s right.  I usually wear this as a dress.  I like my dresses short!  When I shopped my closet last night I realized it would make a perfect maternity top.
Sass & Bide jeans.  Not done up.  Not even a little bit.  Held together with a Bella Band.
Jimmy Choo boots.  Really really old and probably should be thrown out but I can’t bear to part with them.  They have ridiculously high heels and even I have trouble tottering along in them.
Betsy Johnson handbag.  Purchased on Ruelala with a credit I’ve had for ages.

Daily Work Outfit

I was late to work today because it took me so long to pull together an outfit.  I knew I wanted to wear these tights and so had to create an outfit around them, that also fits my bump.  Not an easy feat!

  • Banana Republic top
  • Esprit pencil skirt (only zipped up halfway - sshhhh!)
  • White Charlotte Russe cami underneath (holding the skirt together)
  • J Crew gold belt
  • Anthropologie gold necklace
  • We Love Colors tights
  • T Straps (later swapped for Payless booties when I remembered how much walking there would be today)

John asked me if perhaps my tights were inappropriate for work.  I dress according to what my day entails.  If my day involves attending a client’s Board Meeting then the conservative black suit gets rolled out.  If my day involves going to a client where they all wear jeans on Fridays, then I’m OK with wearing these tights.

I was very pleased with my addition of the gold belt a the last minute.  I have to accentuate what little waist area I have left!  This top will actually function very well as a maternity top.

Mid-Week Date Night Outfit
John wanted to go out for dinner tonight so I suggested the Italian restaurant in Chelsea that my client took me to last week.  We hopped on the Vespa (I didn’t bother with mine and instead hung onto the back of John) and headed downtown.  We did a lot of zig zagging to get downtown due to horrific President-Obama-is-in-town-screwing-with-traffic-on-the-west-side traffic.
On another note, my new jeans can’t arrive soon enough.  I’m sick to the back teeth of leggings.
Anthropologie shirt
Charlotte Ruse tank
H&M belt
J Crew coat (I think they make the best classic style winter coats)
Leggings - BORING!!
Jimmy Choo boots

Last night we headed out to Landmarc for dinner.  Even though we live only blocks away from the Time Warner Center we have never actually eaten in there.  Landmarc is described as a French Bistro with Italian influences.  Sounded right up my alley!  And also came recommended by our friends Jessica and Trevor.

I wore a Dallin Chase dress.

Me: Can you please taken another photo from the back?

John: So you can show everyone your fat bum?

Me: Ha-bloody-ha.  I want to show everyone my leather elbow patches.

Daily Work Outfit
I can’t wait to go maternity clothes shopping this weekend because it really is becoming a struggle to find outfits that are comfortable and appropriate for work.  Today I had the added difficulty of hiding my bump because I was meeting with a client that I’m not quite ready to share the news with.
Banana Republic top
White Charlotte Russe cami
Cue (Australian store) cardigan
Banana Republic belt
Anthro necklace
Jules & Jim Maternity Pants
Payless booties
The client I met with took my boss and me to the most delicious Italian restaurant for lunch.  I was the only one who cleared three courses and refused wine with my meal.  It’s hard not being able to explain why I am refusing wine and eating like a horse!

After an uncomfortable Monday spent tugging at my skirt trying to figure out whether to pull it above my bump or pull it down lower, I gave in to maternity pants on Tuesday.  Oh god, it was bliss.  I’m pretty sure I am going to wear these pants forever - they are so comfy!

Yes, that is my naughty dog tugging at the end of my cardigan.  He does it all the time with this particular cardigan - I’m sure it will have holes in it soon.

After John finally managed to drag himself away from Age of Empire (see below), we headed out for dinner.
I have officially popped.  ’Popped’ is one of those pregnancy words that is liberally thrown around the pregnancy chatrooms by those in the know.  I believe it means when you go from being svelte to having a very noticeable baby bump overnight.  I haven’t stopped marveling at my bump all day, taking every opportunity to stand sideways and stare in the mirror.  I even took a photo from the bathroom at work and emailed it to the various people I thought might care!
So for dinner, I donned my one and only maternity top.  I’ve been dying to wear it but have been ‘saving it’.  I will take a sideways pic tomorrow so that you can truly see what I mean by the word popped.

John: What the hell are you wearing?!!

Me: SHUT UP!  I’m having some trouble finding clothes that fit.

After a weekend of wearing nothing but leggings, I looked in my closet this morning and had no idea what to wear.  I knew nothing was going to fit comfortably.  Too thin for maternity clothes and too fat for skinny clothes.  So I cobbled together this outfit.  I know my Summer skirt looks slightly ridiculous with the rest of the Winter look but I’m running very low on options.

For the first time ever, I did not do a sideways photo. As much as I am looking forward to having my bump, the beer belly look that I am currently sporting is not in the least bit cute.  My favorite part of this outfit - the tights!  Check them out!  I bought these years ago in Tesco (a supermarket in England).

And a close second is this amazing necklace gifted by Ave.  I received multiple compliments on this necklace today.

Daily Work Outfit

I didn’t post any daily work outfits this week because I was super busy, I worked from home more than once which means trackpants were my daily work outfit, and I was lazy with my outfit selections and didn’t do anything new.

Yesterday I went out to my client in New Jersey.  My team forgot to tell me that our client wears jeans on Friday.  It didn’t matter though because although I can still get all my jeans done up (on a good day) I could never wear them comfortably for 10+ hours at work.  All I can say is thank God leggings are in fashion this Fall because I would have been rocking them on weekends anyway.  I know the outfit below is not exciting but I really love the colored tights.

My outfit includes:
